Yugoslav-born Hungarian Jim Horvath is a fine accompanist performing smooth upright bass and percussion, having learnt drums with the legendary Stui Spears from Max Merret and the Meteors.
Bird have performed national festivals including Canberra National Folk Festival, Cobargo Folk Festival, Alice Springs Beanie Festival, Tilba Festival, Merimbula Jazz Festival and Harvest Wine Festival in the ACT.
In 2019 Milena was awarded semi -finalist in the UK songwriting awards , and in April 2021 , her song Mallacoota Time , title track to her book and audiobook of the same title, was given the honour of being placed top ten finalist in the World Songwriting Awards , amongst thousands of entries and 197 countries.
After the duo lost their home and instruments in the Mallacoota bushfires, they relocated in 2021 to Brisbane, where they now perform. Milena wrote and published her compelling bushfire memoir, Mallacoota Time – The Lost Summer 2020, which is available through her author website, https://mallacootatime.com.au
Their life revolves around music and birds, being wildlife carers and owning nine birds who often travel with them.
